In 2016, eight years later Heath Ledger gave his Oscar-winning functionality as The Joker at The Dark Knight, Jared Leto gave his take on the Clown Prince of Crime to get Suicide Squad, the next DC Extended Universe film. While Joker was often talked about in this year’s Birds of Prey, Leto had to reprise the job almost half a decade afterwards, but it appears that that’s going to change thanks to Zack Snyder’s Justice League.
The forthcoming HBO Max miniseries, popularly called The Snyder Cut, is now in the middle of shooting new footage, also THR has noticed that Jared Leto is concerned with this. What’s intriguing about this is that not merely was Jared Leto’s Joker nowhere to be seen from the theatrical version of Justice League, but there wasn’t any sentence about him appearing at Zack Snyder’s version of the film. Therefore it appears Joker being included in the narrative is a brand new development instead of something which was planned years before.

Just How can Jared Leto’s Joker match into Zack Snyder’s Justice League? For the time being, that is difficult to say, though this usually means the superhero team-up narrative will finally have a closer relationship with Suicide Squad. We watched Batman several times in Suicide Squad, for example when he chased after Joker and Harley Quinn throughout the streets of Gotham City, but Leto and Ben Affleck’s various characters never shared display time. Maybe Joker emerging in The Snyder Cut will eventually change this.
Let us remember that before Jared Leto’s Joker premiered in Suicide Squad, the cackling villain was teased in Batman v Superman: Length of Justice, together with the Robin memorial at the Batcave informing audiences that like from the comic books, Joker had murdered the Caped Crusader’s sidekick. Ideally, that tragic occasion will also be referenced in Zack Snyder’s Justice League, therefore, we could finally get some legitimate payoff for this tease.
The Conclusion of Suicide Squad watched Joker and his goons breaking Margot Robbie’s Harley Quinn from Belle Reve, even though detailed in Birds of Prey, the couple broke up shortly afterwards. In the months after Suicide Squad’s launch, there were reports regarding Leto reprising Joker in jobs which range from Gotham City Sirens to his standalone film, although the latter is currently not likely to occur given that the Joaquin Phoenix-led Joker film has come and gone.

Together with Jared Leto with jumped across the Sony Pictures Universe of Marvel Characters to play with Morbius, until now, it was unsure if we would ever see him at the DCEU again. We could expect to see that his Joker at least one longer. Considering Leto will keep active in the coming years not only with Morbius but in addition to the newest Tron film, Gucci, and enjoying Andy Warhol, it is potential The Snyder Cut will function as his Joker’s swan song. On the flip side, based on how The Snyder Cut is obtained, possibly there’ll be a chance to spotlight this incarnation of The Joker again later down the line.
